NEW for 2018! Beach Start!

We are excited that the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships will make use of a beach start. For more information please read the FISA rule book http://bit.ly/FISArulebook of racing page 364. Please note that no one will have to run at the start of the race, all crew members will be with the boat and all crews required to have 2 extra boat handlers at the start line holding the boat. Crews must organize their own boat handlers. Water temperatures will be around 10c, boat handlers might want to dress for the water temperature.

NEW for 2018! Coastal Mixed Double Scull

We are excited that a coastal mixed 2x event will be included in the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships. The coastal mixed double scull (CMix2x) will be open for entries for crews that include one female and one male rower. The following details apply:

    • • Heats for the CMix2x shall be held on the afternoon of Thursday October 11 (in addition to any qualification races that are required as per the provisional race schedule).

  • • The A final for the CMix2x shall be held as the last A final on Saturday October 13. No B final will be held for the CMix2x.

  • • Eligibility to race will be the same as for all other events in a World Rowing Coastal Championships (as per FISA Rules of Racing Appendix 22)

  • • Entries shall be made through the FISA online entry portal, by national federations in the same method as per other World Rowing Coastal Championship events (Canadian and US athletes can register for the CMix2x as well as other events at RegattaCentral. Note: the entry deadline for Canadian and US athletes on RegattaCentral is August 31, 2018.)

  • • The entry deadline for the CMix2x shall be the same as for all other World Rowing Coastal Championship event: September 10, 2018.

  • • For the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships, the maximum number of crews able to enter the CMix2x shall be 32. National federations shall rank their entries. All crews ranked 01 will be accepted to race. After this, crews ranked 02 will be selected by ballot, then crews ranked 03, then crew ranked 04, etc., until all 32 places are filled. The host nation will take the first place in each ballot round.

  • • The CMix2x will count towards the scoring of the World Rowing Coastal Championships Nations Trophy.

Team managers and crew captains are reminded that they are required to display their family name and country code on the front of their uniform and only their three letter country code on the back. For more info please refer to the FISA Rule book Bye-laws to Rule 50 http://bit.ly/FISArulebook page 354. Or our bulletin 2 page 6.

The rules allow two sizes for family names, athletes with short names should use the first option [50mm x 120-150mm in uppercase]. Athletes with long names should use the second option [50mm x 150mm in lower case].

There is no specification on the way the wording is placed onto the uniform. This can be through an attachment or with the letters directly printed onto the uniform. The example in the picturen used vinyl lettering, done in a t-shirt printing shop costing 5 euro’s in total. Other teams have used fabric labels attached to the uniforms with safety pins.

> Registration

To compete at the World Rowing Coastal Championships, a competitor shall be a member of a club recognized by their National Federation. Crews may include members of different nationalities, but they must be members of a club under the same National Federation. Entries must be approved and submitted by the National Federation.

Clubs submit entries to your National Federation (deadline to be determined by each National Federation). Please contact your federation for more information. Canadian and US athletes: please submit your entries via RegattaCentral. https://www.regattacentral.com/regatta/?job_id=5849, making sure you select the event with the correct country (e.g., Womens Open C1x (Canada) for members of Canadian clubs, Womens Open C1x (USA) for members of US clubs.). Please contact USRA or RCA directly if you have questions about your entries or eligibility.
National federations submit entries by 10 September, 2018 using the FISA online entry system. Please include the club names and crew rankings.
All athletes must complete the Rowers Commitment Form. If an athlete has not completed the form in 2017 please mail the form to FISA or submit it in person to the FISA representative at the Regatta Registration desk in Victoria.
Crews must confirm their entries at registration in person at the regatta venue by 11am October 11, 2018. Any crew who has not confirmed their entry in person by that time, will be assumed to be not competing and will be removed from the draw. Crew confirmation can be done by a club official or representative on the crews behalf in person.
