There will be a lot to do during the 2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships. Check out all the social events and spectator options and do not miss out on the limited print edition from First Nation artist Archie Andrews. ‘Orca Spirit’ is the official logo of the Organizing Committee.

2018 World Rowing Coastal Championships Banquet

Join us on Oct 13th for a West Coast BBQ and party after the Medal Ceremony. The banquet will be in the unique venue of a private airplane hangar and feature a catered buffet of fresh local foods and a cash bar serving Victoria’s famous local craft beer from Category 12 Brewing, cider and BC wine.  Tickets for the BBQ and party will be available for purchase online until September 30. A limited number of tickets may be available for purchase onsite during the event.

Medal Ceremony 19:00
Dinner 19:30
Dance 21:00- midnight
 
The ticket price off $60 includes: buffet dinner, dance (with dj), bus transportation  from Sidney to the hangar (about 2km from the venue) and back.
 
Please note that tickets must be reserved and paid for online by Oct 8th. Your electronic ticket will be emailed to you.
 
 
A limited number of tickets may be available for sale at the venue ($70).
 

Open Water Rowing Adventures

For first-hand accounts of open water rowing adventures across the Atlantic Ocean, around Vancouver Island and up the Inside Passage to Alaska. Tickets can be purchased from the General Information tent ($10). A limited number of tickets my be available at the door (cash only)

  • Guin Batten – Chair , FISA Rowing for All Commission
19:00-20:30 OPEN WATER ROWING ADVENTURES
  • Colin Angus – Adventurer – First person to make a self-propelled global circumnavigation including a row across the Atlantic Ocean from Portugal to Mexico.
  • Julien Bahain – Olympic Medalist in Rowing – successfully completed 2013 transatlantic rowing expedition.
  • Ian Graeme – 4-time participant in the Race to Alaska (https://r2ak.com/), 750 nautical miles through the wild Inside Passage from Port Townsend, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska, by sail, rowboat and kayak.

Description: The painting “Orca Spirit” was inspired by a family of orcas Archie saw while out fishing. He said they came very close to him and he could feel their presence. That experience led to the painting that is now the logo for the OARCA Coastal Rowing Society. 
 
 

Beer Garden

Enjoy the Beergarten, located next to the finish line, sponsored by Category 12, a local craft brewery, Merridale, Cider grown and Produced on Vancouver Island and Mark Anthony Wine and Spirits. They source local, you drink local. Biergarten hours: Friday and Saturday  12:00- 18:00. 

Spectator Boat

You want to get closer to the action? Our Spectator Boat, sponsored by Sidney Harbour Cruise (http://www.ecocruising.com/about-us.html), takes you on the water for 45 min of pure rowing experience. Watch the races up close and in comfort from the 28 ft, 12 passenger vessel, with a fully-enclosed solarium dome. Visit the General Information tent for the spectator boat schedule, pickup location and to buy tickets. Ticket Price: $20 (includes GST)
